I usually stay on the west side of Washington, over near Dulles Airport. The hotels are cheap on the weekend, I can take the Orange Line into town, and if all else fails, there's always the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center. The U-H Center is where they put most of the pieces too big to fit in the main NASM building downtown on The Mall, like Space Shuttle Enterprise and The Enola Gay.
